Back In The Womb-WPF

At the pool tonight (TRYING to stay cool despite the 98degree temps at 7pm!!!), I was reading a book about adoption while my little guy played at the splash pad. He came over and crawled into my lap, wet swimsuit and all, and asked about my book. I gave a brief, toddler-ized explanation of adoption saying it was bringing a baby into your family that didn’t come from your mommy’s tummy. For my almost-3yr old, this was an invitation to try and climb back in the womb. I mean, who wouldn’t hear that in an explanation of adoption. I was cracking up as he put his ENTIRE head and arms and half his chest under my shirt.

This kid is something else!

Getting my kids to look at the camera and smile can be quite the task these days. Add in their two cousins and it is darn close to impossible to get a picture of all four of them (ages 2months, almost 2, almost 3 and 5) looking and smiling at the same time. See what I mean… (attempted at my son’s preschool graduation yesterday)

Monster Jam!-WPF

Technically, it is still Friday…so although I am just a little late putting up a post today, at least I am getting it done at all.

Hubby and my 4yr went to Monster Jam tonight at Allstate Arena. They had incredible seats, 4rows back from the action. They had a fabulous time!!

But instead of indulging in loud trucks and crashing action, me and my little guy opted for some quiet cuddles on the couch. And although I know my husband and son had an awesome time at Monster Trucks, I can’t imagine a better way to spend my evening than snuggled up with my baby watching his favorite movie.

I’ll be sharing more about Monster Jam tomorrow, but for tonight… Happy Friday y’all. Or I guess I should say, hope your Friday was happy and have a great weekend. (It’s gonna warm up, yes?)

How Little Boys Play- WPF

This is what happens when 4 little boys ages 2-4 get together to play… you get lots of cars and noise and piles of wrestling in the middle of the floor. The only problem with this game, was that no one wanted to be on the bottom of the pile. So they all took turns jumping on top of the other three! Fun times!

Enchanted Railroad- WPF

My mind has been a bit scattered this Christmas season- distracted by thoughts of moving and trying to get life a bit more organized. But now Christmas is starring me in the face and I feel like I haven’t done enough to create a magical feel of the season for my boys. So this morning we headed over to the Arboretum to see their Enchanted Railroad exhibit. They have filled the entire room with trains carrying miniature Christmas trees and presents and candy canes. There are little villages and trees nestled among the tracks. The boys were just mesmerized by it all! Of course, they were a bit bummed that they couldn’t touch the trains or eat the candy canes off one of the cars. But overall, it was a great way to usher in a little last-minute holiday magic. And it’s free! You should totally check it out, especially if you are also in need of some festive spirit. It is open until Jan. 2nd.

My son had his Christmas play at preschool this morning. Besides being mega-adorable, there are always those moments good for a little chuckle. You know.. the yawns, the exaggerated motions, or in my son’s case… the impromptu bow. The audience was applauding one of their sweet little songs and my 4yr old thought it was a good time to thank his fans with a quick bow. Ha! One of those precious memories that this mama will cherish forever!!

Some unexpected turns of events have left me cooking an entire Thanksgiving dinner for my family this year. It’s a long story. But, being faced with the task of planning and cooking the full meal prompted me to look back at the pictures of Thanksgiving ’08 when I cooked my first EVER Thanksgiving meal for my boys. My youngest was only two months old and all our family in the area had out-of-town plans. So we decided to simply have a Thanksgiving with just our new little family of four. And it was fabulous and I am praying this year will be too.

Anyway… on to WPF. In looking at pictures from 2 years ago to get inspired, I re-found this picture of my little Beagle pup. He swiped a plastic margarita glass I got at some blogger party I went to and proceeded to chew it to pieces. But before he did, I snapped this pic because I thought the image of my dog drinking a margarita was funny. I mean, I know the boys drive him crazy. They drive me crazy too. But I didn’t know it had driven him to the bottle. Ha! Maybe the dog and I should make a few cocktails and unwind together after a long day of chasing the toddlers. (Y’all know I am kidding, right? Don’t called PETA or DCFS on me.) Cheers!

How Super Heros Sleep- WPF

… With a villain in each hand, apparently. My boys are totally into super heroes right now. Everything is Batman and Superman and the Hulk and Human Torch and etc… So much so, that they want to bring these little characters with them everywhere. Even to bed evidently. Good superheros even fight the villains in their sleep. (That is the Joker and the Penguin for those of you who may have little girls or haven’t been immersed in the Justice League like I have!)
