Safe and Comfortable: The Maxi-Cosi CarSeat

Being a mother is never an easy job. Suddenly you are surrounded with dangers that you must protect your children from. One pressing concern for mothers is the safety of their children while riding in the car. As soon as I had my first daughter I went from being a lead-footed driver to captain safety patrol! I may drive cautiously, but the same cannot be promised of the drivers around us. And as every driver knows accidents happen. The most important thing for me is keeping my children safe should an accident occur. Of course I would like to bubble wrap my babies each time they leave the house but the next best thing is choosing the right car seat!
Any veteran of the “Babies R Us” car seat aisle knows there are many car seat choices out there. Of course I would love to pick the most expensive AKA seemingly safest car seat, but as a single mother on a budget, that’s not happening!
Of course the companies selling the car seats aren’t going to tell you both the positives AND negatives of their product. So, here I am a fellow mom to give you the lowdown on a product I had the opportunity to scrutinize.
I was asked to test drive the Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat. The first thing I noticed about this car seat was the thin carrier bar. I last purchased an infant car seat over two years ago and planned to use the hand-me-down for the new baby. This thinner carrier bar definitely made toting baby #2 to and from the car an easier experience than last time around! It feels much more lightweight as well. Anyone that has toted around a baby, toddler, diaper bag, purse etc. knows lightweight is wonderful!
The Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat that I was given was black. Black upholstery with black clips and buckles. While this is probably not usually a problem, I had a hard time keeping this car seat cool in this crazy summer heat. I had to drape a towel over it any time I left it in the car.
The side impact protection is not only a wonderful safety feature, it also keeps the child’s head steady when they fall asleep in the car. I hated seeing the horrible angle of my older daughter’s neck when she would fall asleep while driving. This car seat helps prevent that.
All in all I love the car seat and you will too! I love the side impact protection and the overall plush cozy feel! This Maxi Cosi carseat will not only keep your baby safe, but comfortable!
