Sales Tax Holiday!

Dupage Mamas, can summer really be almost over? It seems that I wait all year for summer and then its over in a flash. Of course, the sun will tell me that summer has more than a month left to go, but school is starting in the next few weeks for most areas in Dupage County, and that always seems to be the true end of summer.
This is the first year that I have someone going off to school. Not school-school, really, but preschool – for the first time. I’m excited! And to tell the truth, I was excited most of all when I received our supply list from my son’s teacher – the list of things we’re supposed to bring on the first day. My husband saw the look in my eye and said “you love that you have a supply list don’t you!” I denied it, of course, but it was true. I do love it.
I know you have a list too (and probably, if its not your first one, you’re not as excited as I am) so I want to be sure you know that Illinois has declared a sales tax holiday on school supply…staring now. You can find out all the details here, but let me sum up :
When? August 6-15, 2010
What? For these 10 days already in progress, you can pay a reduced state tax on certain clothes, footwear, and school supplies to help get your kids stocked up for school.
How much? The rate on these selected items is 5% discounted. So if you normally pay 7% state tax, you would only pay 2%. Etc.
What’s next? Now, you really do need to click here and find out all the details, plus the list of things you can save on.
Happy back to school shopping!
If you know of a tip that would help or interest the Dupage Mamas, please don’t hesitate to send it our way! You can tip us off and we’ll write about it, or write up a post yourself and we’ll post it for you.

Thanks Cath! Great info.
And…. a supply list for preschool?!?!
Well, just a short one.
You don’t have one?
They give a break on diapers too!!
Stock up!!
