Kids really DO say the cutest things

Remember those forward emails and YouTube videos where kids you don’t know say cute things?  Its hard to resist melting with the cute things kids say, even if you don’t know them.  And its even more fun when its your kid and you get treated to new cuteness everyday.  Here’s a few recent classics from my three year old:

A covered his eyes when I came in the room. “You can’t see me! I’m hiding!” he yelled.

A has always had a sense of humor, long before he could talk. His irony is getting more sophisticated however. Watching Little Bee fill his diaper for the third time in one day I said “Little Bee, you have all kinds of poop!” Without missing a beatA said “Cat poop…dog poop…elephant poop…”
Riding in the car one day I asked A a question and was met by silence. “Can you answer me?” I queried. “There will not be an answer” he replied stoically, not moving a muscle. This seemed strange to me so I asked “are you upset about something, A ?” Still, nothing but silence. I gave up and changed the topic but my husband, who had been only half listening, said “did you say you were upset about something,A?” “No,” he replied. “Mommy said that. I’m just relaxing.” This was all done with such an air of other-worldliness and unflappability.

A walked into the room holding a piece of paper. He stood before us saying “Excuse me, I have an announcement.” Then in a formal voice he “read:”

In the 1960′s the first train was built and it carried people from Haiti all around the world. Thank you.

One morning A was playing with “kid scissors,” cutting up wrapping paper. When he was done he wrapped the scissors in the wrapping paper and gave them to me saying “Its Christmas morning!” When I opened them and thanked him he said in a serious voice “these were mine when I was a kid.”

During a “reading nap” he apparently was looking through an excellent book we have about Martin Luther King. He burst from his room in excitement saying “Did you know that Martin Luther King was the King before Jesus??”

Back after our bout with H1N1 A was singing a little tune under his breath. I leaned in to hear what he was singing. The words were slightly different than the original but were in line with what had been on all of our minds: “Influenza, influenza, influenza Clementine.” (To the tune of “Oh my Darling”).

Speaking of songs, A proudly wrote his first original this past Christmas. The words go like this:
Don’t be afraid of the Baby Jesus, he’s the King of all the world
Don’t be afraid of the Baby Jesus, he’s the King of us all.

What cute things have your kids said lately?
