Christmas Eve at the Zoo

This unique Christmas tradition comes from Apil. We’d love to highlight whatever traditions you have this time of year as well!
One thing we started doing is going to the zoo on Christmas Eve. For some reason, we went when Kiddo was a baby. It was an exceptionally warm day and Hubby had it off and we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs and didn’t know what to do so we went there. It was great! Not
very crowded, not too cold and something unusual to do on that day. We went for her second Christmas Eve as well. We had every intention of going last year but hubby forgot that was our “tradition” and we missed the boat (he worked a half day). However, we will be going this year and now that hubby has the memo, we plan to go every year. Even though some may think we are nuts to go to a mainly outdoor event in the dead of winter, there are enough indoor houses and exhibits that if it’s truly that frigid you can race with the kids in a stroller from house to house-and it gives you an excuse to spend more time than normal examining the indoor exhibits just so you don’t have to go out again!

Cool tradition, April! Anne will no doubt look forward to it every year. We went to the zoo one year on groundhog day and it was totally empty but so much fun!
I hope you get to go today and keep the tradition going. Merry Christmas!
