**GIVEAWAY ALERT** Read on for details!!!

Sometimes having fun is a lot of work. I think we have all been there. We stay up late to pack for a trip or drive an hour to that super-cool children’s museum or spend all day at the zoo no matter what the weather- all in the name of providing a little fun and some great memories for our kiddos (and ourselves too!). My family just got back from a little getaway this past week. We got home really late on Wednesday night and were all exhausted the next day. Everything in me wanted to lay low and not leave my couch. Traveling exhausts me. But, we had tickets to the circus for Thursday night. And while my instinct was to hunker down and recoup, instead I pressed through and took my 3year old to the circus. And I was not at all sorry!

This year’s tour of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is called Zing, Zang, Zoom and is currently circusperforming at the Allstate Arena. And it is quite the show!! They combine all the circus standards- clowns, elephants, amazing acrobatics- with magic tricks that will blow you away. At one point, they put a clown in a clear box. They covered it with a sheet and somehow a tiger appears! It is pretty amazing! My son LOVED all the animals. The tiger act was very cool and the elephants did way more tricks than I expected. One of our favorite acts was the little dogs. They are so adorable, running through obstacles and doing flips- all very entertaining for a 3yr. old (and his mama too!). Another highlight of the show was definitely the two ladies being shot out of the cannon. Very cool! Our other favorites were the spinning wheel acrobats and the highwire/tight rope. My son said, “How can they ride a bicycle on a rope with their friend sitting on their head? That is crazy!”

The pace of the show held our interest well and the clowns really help keep things interesting even when they are setting up the next act. My little guy did have moments where I thought he was loosing interest, especially towards the end of the first half when there was lots of acrobatics and not a lot of animals. But, whenever I saw him starting to fade, something would happen in the ring that would pull his attention right back. I was, however, glad I left my 15month old at home with Daddy. I think, while there would have been moments he would have loved, it would have been hard to manage him for 2hours and keep him entertained. My 3year old, though, loved it and was the perfect age for his first circus experience- able to sit still (mostly) but also in the stage where he is able to appreciate the magic and grandness of the show. It was so special to be there with him. As he sat on my lap, his eyes as wide as saucers, we both were just drinking in the magic of that moment. I know the days are waning of him wanting to sit close to me and watch in wonder as the tigers or the horses or the elephants amaze us. So I am grateful for any chance to create such special memories and moments with my sons.

The tickets are all reasonably priced and the show is well worth the money. The seats we had were amazing, just a few rows back from the ring. But truthfully, any seats at all would have been the same. It was the show that made the night. It was magnificent, magical, and SO worth my effort to get there. It was the type of night that memories are made of. The Zing, Zang, Zoom show will play at the Allstate Arena until November 15th and then at the United Center until November 29th. Catch it while you can! You will love it too!
