Fugatives and Cougars and Bears – oh my!

Last week was a busy week for DuPage County. Who said nothing exciting happens here?
For one thing, there were helicopters circling everyone last Friday after a fugitive hijacked a car in Hoffman Estates, robbed a bank in Bloomingdale, then took off evading the police from whose custody he had escaped the day before. He was finally caught in West Chicago. The whole story unfolding in DuPage County! My boys enjoyed watching the non-stop helicopters. I kept my doors locked and the radio on…but now that he’s safely in custody it does sound pretty exciting. Even I thought the helicopters were pretty cool.
As if armed bad guys in our neighborhood wasn’t exciting enough, he was joined by an animal that may or may not have been a cougar. A few residents reported seeing a cougar in the Wheaton area last week on two different occasions. Paw prints and molds were brought to experts at Brookfield Zoo for examination, but the results weren’t conclusive. I’m not sure which I’d rather run into on the Prairie Path – a fugitive or a cougar?
As for the Bears? Well, I’m no football fan. I typically don’t even realize it IS football season. But word on the street is that they pulled off a miracle and actually won a game…
Were you part of any of this DuPage excitement? We’d love to hear your take on it, or any other event. Email us at dupagemamas at gmail dot com to guest post.
