Indoor Solution to Beat the Heat
Posted at 12:07 am on August 11, 2009 by Farrah
This week is supposed to be the hottest of the year so far. And I am sure the heat will have mamas all over flocking towards the pool and the splash pad or filling up that backyard kiddie pool. But if you are more into indoor- solutions for extreme heat, let me suggest a very cool place we love- the Creative Learning Art Studio for Kids in downtown Roselle.
At the Creative Learning Arts Studio for Kids, they have an amazing variety of art supplies and pre-planned pro
jects for the kiddos to do. Your little artist can paint on the easels on the wall, play at the “muck table,” or splash in the water table. On the craft tables, they have foam animals, popsicle sticks, paint, chalk,… basically anything you can think to use to create a unique masterpiece. If murals are more your kids’ thing, the wall by the water table is all ceramic tiles so the kids can paint away. Coolest of all, the floor is a chalkboard so mess and creativity is encouraged everywhere.
The cost is $7/hour or $12 for 2hours of studio time (free for kids under 2). If you make any of the bigger projects, you do have to pay the fee even if your child got in for free (but those are included with your studio fee). I would also recommend calling the morning you plan to go to make sure the
y don’t have a birthday party or scheduled class that would keep your kids from being able to play. My son painted a masterpiece (and his fingers and clothes), created a jungle, and splashed his heart out at the water table. My friend’s daughter painted an adorable wooden animal and then the kids made pinwheels. They all had a blast and we didn’t have to clean up the mess.
My son’s masterpiece is now hanging in our kitchen, reminding me to give my budding artist more opportunities to express his creative side. We can’t wait to go back. It seems worth the cost to me to give him an opportunity for uninhibited fun. Each table has a new way for him to let loose and get creative. Then we can wash our hands and go home for lunch. Perfect.
